A “Real” Find

If I could work for any company, it would hands down be Ikea. From their inventive design, brilliantly simple engineering, and downright quirkiness, I would kill (not really) to be a part of their think tank.

I’ve been introduced to a new obsession, Real Simple. This company isn’t just a magazine or home products, but a lifestyle, much like Ikea. With sections on ‘new uses for old things’ and ‘uncommon knowledge’ teaching you easy and genius solutions to daily dilemmas, Real Simple is always an entertaining read. The modern designs, yet comfortable and ‘homey’ feel to the magazine have Ikea written all over it. The articles tackle design, home-management, organization, financial planning, cooking, and everyday problems.

Occasionally an issue will spend a large amount of pages on fashion or beauty, but it’s not just what clothes to wear and what fashions are in. This month’s issue has a section on ‘beauty injuries.’ What to do when you’ve singed hair with a curling iron or poked an eye with a mascara wand, it’s all in there and it’s all simple and smart.

The magazine’s website has even more to offer, with personal to-do lists and financial planning as well as weekly emails and beautiful photos.

Real Simple is a guide to a brilliantly simple and inventively designed lifestyle. If I could write for any publication, this would be it.

Real Simple also writes books on cooking, cleaning, organization, weddings, and ‘solutions.’ Their products can be seen online and in stores like Target.
