Chuao Chocolate Cafe is a Must for Chocolate Lovers!

I love discovering new places. Cypress, Gloria and I were headed to Anaheim for my birthday when we decided to make a Starbucks stop. As I walked in to my dismay, they had a dismal display of pastries. Ugh, I hate when there’s no lemon loaf. So, after walking out disappointed we wondered into Chuao Chocolate Cafe.

Things happen for a reason.

Chuao Chocolate Cafe, located in La Jolla’s UTC shopping center, is filled with delicious chocolate treats and the people that work there are affable and knowledgeable.

A woman named Summer approached us and answered all our questions about their gourmet chocolates and pastries with NO SALES PRESSURE. I love that. I’ve noticed people tend not to go into high end places because of the pressure they feel to buy to prove their right to be in the store. This store felt very welcoming.

Summer actually spent time with us and even explained about events CCC holds. They have a chocolate tasting event, which is 10 dollars a person, also if you attend this event you get a discount on your purchases for the day. Gloria, Cypress and I all agreed that it’s an event we’re going to look out for. She told us it’s held once a month and to call for any date changes.

The only thing that’s difficult about the store is trying to set a spending limit for yourself. I wanted to buy and taste EVERYTHING! They’re chocolate is so smooth and delicious.

Gloria and I ended up buying some brownies. We both agreed that we’ve never tasted a more delicious brownie. It had cinnamon and chili powder. It gave a slight warmth through out your mouth, it was chocolate-y but not so sweet that you couldn’t appreciate the coco.

Gloria also bought a chocolate bar and we discussed how yes, it cost more than the dollar chocolate bars at the grocery store, but the quality really was different because you don’t just taste sugar. This chocolate bar had depth. We’re rather have one of these a week than 8 a week of the dollar bars of chocolate.

This cafe doesn’t only sell chocolate, cypress got a delicious dulce de leche pastry and they sell gelato!

We loved our visit there and now we’re planning to treat ourselves there…often :D

Oh and a little birdy told me that a Food network show stopped by to tape there so keep your eyes open, we’re not surprised, Chuao is destined for big things.

Don’t Forget to Bring Your Glowsticks to Disneyland

Rumor is that June 14th is Raver day at Disneyland, so don’t be weirded out by the rainbow dressed, pacifier sucking adults that are walking around the park; it’s just their way.

You can google for photo evidence that such a day exists, although, the day is never official. Kids just find out by word or mouth, internet forums or myspace (that’s how I found out about it).

Who is the Killer in Sherman Alexie’s Indian Killer?

I’ve noticed this question appear many times in my blog stats, since I have a previous blog about the novel.

Now, I’m going to shed some light on that question.

The answer is that no one is sure and that’s why Sherman titled his book, “Indian Killer”. He wants the reader to see the title, and consider whether the murderer kills Indians or if the killer is an Indian.

Often, people tend to think the Killer is John, but to be honest that is all assumption because the book doesn’t clearly name a character as obviously guilty.

Flight of the Conchords Tickets Cost an Arm and a Leg

It’s less than a week before my summer classes and I’ve been doing the random. I went swimming until the weather in California forgot it was California and a tornado watch happened. This brought about the rain which prompted me to sit on my butt, enjoy the pitter-patter of the rain and bring out a sweater to wear (YES! It’s sweater weather!)

While sitting on my butt I decided to spend hours on doing what I like most- being productive unproductive. What does that mean exactly you ask? Well it means instead of reading ahead for my classes or doing some sit-ups to counteract the munchies I’ve caught from visiting my parents I’ve used my precious time to do other things such as: going on sites like Etsy.com or ebay, read a blog or two or 10 and watch all the seasons so Arrested Development-I forgot Zack Braff was a never-nude.

Everything was copacetic til I was on ebay searching for Flight of the Conchords tickets in Los Angeles. I knew that it was going to be expensive, last time I checked a pair was going for around $300, but nothing prepared me for the prices I saw today. All the “buy now” tickets are going for around $700 and at that price most of the sellers AREN’T offering free shipping! Those shits! Honestly, someone is even brazen enough to have a” buy now” at $1,100. His/her message to the buyer (if there is one foolish enough to buy it) is:

“These are awesome seats that I am sadly selling – I have to go out of town for business now. :( I had bought them through a service and am just trying to recoup my money – hopefully these go to some worthy individuals that love FOTC.”

LIKE THEY GIVE A TOSS THAT A FOTC FAN BUYS IT!

It’s like…SERIOUSLY…are you sending those tickets in an envelope made of gold, encrusted with diamonds and delivered by a person who going to offer some kind of sexual favor?

Oh, no?

THEN WTF, WHY $1,100?!

FOTC fans are mostly college students that buy cup-o-noodles with the 5 bucks they got from their $150 psych book during their school’s book buy back ripoff session or young people that live in studio apartments and use their beds as couches or at least a barrier to pretend the kitchen is not your bedroom.

With those discouraging ticket prices I’m just going to have to enjoy my FOTC DVD and youtube videos because there is no way I’m shelling out hundreds compared to ticketmaster’s $32+ whatever handling fees.

Chopin Mixed with Radiohead- Who Knew?

Jack Conte did.

His music video for the mash up is like watching a surgeon at work. He plays all the instruments and sings all the parts. Magicians don’t often reveal their tricks, but it’s appreciated that artist showed his work; the music video will blow you way.

Watching this insanely good mash up over and over again made me want more, and I felt like I struck gold when I started to listen to his song “Yeah Yeah Yeah”- both versions are killer.

The video for “Yeah Yeah Yeah V2” is now a youtube.com featured video. (Kudos!)

Some influences he’s listed and/or I’ve noticed are the Postal Service, Radiohead, Muse, Chopin not to mention the Conte lists Danny Elfman as a personal influence. Fantastic.

This specific version of “Yeah Yeah Yeah” is available only on his myspace, not on itunes, but you can buy the rest of his music on itunes or HERE at CDbaby.com.
