It’s Too Early in the Morning

Photobucket
It’s the Friday before finals and practically no one came to class.

I fucking HATE coming to school when no one shows up.

The professor now has the opportunity to “notice” you because the class isn’t there to camouflage you for safety.

GAH! As I’m typing this, my keyboard is sounding unusually louder than usual because there aren’t any whispers or random banter to mask it.

Blah, I could have gotten more sleep.

SDSU’s President Stephen L. Weber Releases a Statement

Below is the mass Email sent to SDSU students in regards to the drug arrest that took place today:

This morning, SDSU Police concluded a year-long investigation with the arrest of 18 SDSU students suspected of selling drugs to other students. The majority of the arrests took place in the College Area and on the SDSU campus as part of a joint operation by SDSU Police and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

For updated information on the investigation and arrests, visit: www.sdsu.edu/information

I want to commend the excellent work done by the SDSU Police – who led this investigation. I also want to extend our gratitude to the Drug Enforcement Agency and District Attorney’s Office for their outstanding cooperation and support.

Several SDSU students are among those arrested today. Each of these students has been suspended. They will not be returning to class or taking final exams until completion of due-process review, to which they are entitled under the law. Those who were living in university-managed housing have been evicted.

San Diego State is dedicated to higher learning and to human growth and development. The use of and/or trafficking in illegal substances are inconsistent with our values and with the pursuit of our mission. Certainly today’s arrests underscore the scope of the challenges universities face as we fight this major societal problem. We are determined to remove people from our community who place our students at risk, and to see that they are turned over to the criminal justice system.

Today’s arrests are a big step forward toward a safer environment for our students, faculty, staff and neighbors. SDSU will continue to do what is necessary – through both enforcement and education – to encourage students to make the responsible choices to ensure the health and safety of our campus community.

Man, everyone knew that there were drugs at SDSU. One time I was waiting for courtesy patrol in front of Villa Alvarado to come pick me up (does that still exist btw?) and while I was waiting, some guy in a rickety car call out at me asking if I was waiting for some E (ugh I thought he was asking me if I was waiting for security). Big “surprise” there’s drugs at SDSU, but it’s great that something VISUAL was done about it.

Free Aquabats Show

April 12th is USC Springfest.

The Aquabats are playing the Springfest and you can see them for free.

Here’s a bulletin they’ve announced:

Come on down collegites and collegettes! We’ll be playing a FREE set over at the USC Springfest on April 12th!

We go on at 4PM so mark your calenders and synchronize your swimming, we’ll be playing on the hour SHARP like razorwire!

Best of all, the SHOW IS FREE! So spend all the money you can on merchandise…if we sell merchandise…if we have merchandise…just throw money on stage!

How exciting! I love free shows and an Aquabats’ show is always a good time.

The last time I saw them was at the House of Blues in San Diego and they threw kid into the crowd, which lovingly and desperately caught him of course. The parents didn’t even make a big deal about it, they just kept dancing when “Pool Party” played.

The kid got to play the drums, dance and the lead put him on his shoulders…he won’t realize how major that is til he’s older. Lucky lil’ cannon ball.

You Can Find More than Highlighter Marks and Overpriced Tags from a Book in the Bookstore

(sorry about the fuzzy photos, I must start remembering to bring a camera around, the Sidekick really is an overrated phone)

Maybe it’s because I’m a bit nosey, but finds like this make me smile, or smirk hha.

I was walking through the Aztec bookstore, looking for a book to buy for class (I try to hold off buying anything till I find out I can’t get it from the library, Amazon.com, ebay or from a friend) when I ran into Sherman Alexie’s novel, Indian Killer. I read it for my English 250b class, back in the day. I picked up a used copy to flip to some quotes I remembered when I noticed a message written inside and it said:

To Xxxxxx.

Good luck on your many
endeavours through life.
We know you’ll turn out
just fine. I hope you find
this novel inspiring &
that you may one day
overcome your schizophrenia.

With love,

Grandma & Grandpa

Wow, what a message to run into. A lot of people are probably wondering why he/she sold it…well I have my theories:

  1. The bookstore is damn expensive and he/she probably need the money for the next round of over priced books.
  2. Maybe he/she is not schizophrenic so the message is a reminder of how his/her family has overacted over him/her being “emotional and different” , but he/she is not going to just toss it into the trash (because of theory 1)
  3. His/Her roommate is an @$$hole and stole then sold it…again, probably reason 1.

Sorry, I’ve got my mind on my money and money on my mind. (oh Snoop)

College Republicans

Photobucket

I was walking around in Storm Hall and I passed by this flier.

Often thought to be a myth, college Republicans do exist and now I see they don’t meet in secret.

I bet you’re wondering if I’m a Republican.

My answer to you: My mother told me to never talk politics.
