My refresh button is about to fall off because of Muxtape.com.
If you’re not familiar with the site it lets you upload 12 songs onto your profile for an online playlist. You can listen to different users’ playlists and they can listen to yours. Just refresh the site for a new set of mixes.
I’m going on overload discovering so much amazing music. I do fine on my own usually, but THE REMIXES…I’ve had the pleasure of finding remixes for some of my favorite bands and COVERS!
I’ve always been a sucker for remixes and cover songs.
There’s just something very interesting when an artist puts their spin on another artist’s work. Sometimes it’s sacrilege, but most of the time for me it refreshes my memory when it comes to listening to old favorites.
Another great Muxtape feature, according to its blog, is it’s iphone compatable. You can travel with unlimited playlists because you can connect to the site and listen to it on your iphone.
Start your own Muxtape HERE. The sign up is lightening fast and simple.
Below is my (Cy) and Cypress’ Muxtape URL. Leave your URL in the comments and we’ll check yours out. KN loves music!

I don’t understand? isn’t muxtape just a copy of imeem.com? Well not an exact copy, imeem doesn’t have that annoying 12 track limit, and you don’t need to upload the tunes you can just borrow them from artists or fans who have already uploaded them
Given that imeem was doing this 2 years ago, and has already dealt with the legal issues, why should I be interested in muxtape which is more restricted and could get shutdown any minute now.
You’re right, it is like imeem and imeem is way more advance than muxtape. Also, you’re right about it being so new and it completely at risk to be shut down.
However, it is something simple for people to try out who aren’t already invested into sites like imeem. I liked the simplicity of it all. The sign up is practically seconds and the upload time is short. It’s just another music community to enjoy. Also, the 12 song playlist does embody the spirit of the mixtape, which many find charming.
Join at your own risk. There aren’t that many bells and whistles, but there’s no shortage of music and playlists. If you’re down to discover new music and want to keep it simple then Muxtape is one of your options.
As for it disappearing, it hasn’t yet so go ahead an enjoy it.
