Shiny things (the famous glove)
And having a tiny metal feel :]

Panic at the Disco to Release ‘That Green Gentleman’ as Next Music Video

On Friday visit NOKIAUSA.com to see Panic at the Disco’s new video for ‘That Green Gentleman’ off of their CD Pretty. Odd.

Here’s the teaser:

If their video for ‘ 9 in the Afternoon’ is any indication of what music videos are to come from this CD then we don’t have to worry about any weird fishbowl scheisse. I was tired of being so distracted form their overly metaphorical video oddities.

Anyway… the teaser is cute and the kids that play “mini Panic” yell that they’re Pimps in training :]

Looking forward to it.

Live Action Anime: Good Idea? Probably Not.

When I’m bored, I go to Wikipedia.org. (Don’t ask me why, I just do.) And to make myself even nerdy-er, I look up anime. (Seriously, stop with the looks!) It may sound odd, but it’s actually a good way to avoid bad anime. (Well what I consider bad anime) You get to read a synopsis and find out if it has all the elements you want! Plus it’s a good way to avoid “wasting time” on anime. You all know what I’m taking about. The anime where you dedicate some major time watching, then at the end they all die. (I.e. Wolf’s Rain. Sorry to ruin it for you!)

On one of my recent trips to Wikipedia I decided to research Dragon Ball GT. The thought came to me when I was in my Pop Culture Japan class. We were learning about the author and what he based the story on so, I decided, since I had never seen GT I might as well look up what it’s about. Next, I end up stumbling upon an article about the upcoming 2009 Dragon Ball live action movie! After reading the article I wasn’t excited to see one of my favorite childhood cartoons come to life, instead, I felt a bit depressed. The cast list is a little odd. (Jamie Chung will be Chi Chi, you know her from Real Word: San Diego) Plus I feel this has the super potential to end up campy. I just can’t picture a real life Piccolo on the silver screen or Justin Chatwin as Goku.

Another film slated to become a live action movie is Ghost in the Shell. Variety released an article stating they have acquired the rights to this anime legend with the help of Steven Speilberg who is set to make it a live action 3-D movie. I’m sure this will be interesting, but I’m not so sure I’ll line up to see it. (Mostly because I wasn’t too fond of the animated movie.) However, I do feel that this movie will turn out really well because you have a big name director backed by a big studio.

I’m not saying that anime shouldn’t be turned into live action movies. (I’m actually very excited to see Speed Racer this summer.) But I’m just saying that you have to be careful because it has the potential to turn out incredibly bad! Does anyone even remember the live action DB from Japan?!?

P.S. There are some good live action dramas based off anime like Absolute Boyfriend!

Chopin Mixed with Radiohead- Who Knew?

Jack Conte did.

His music video for the mash up is like watching a surgeon at work. He plays all the instruments and sings all the parts. Magicians don’t often reveal their tricks, but it’s appreciated that artist showed his work; the music video will blow you way.

Watching this insanely good mash up over and over again made me want more, and I felt like I struck gold when I started to listen to his song “Yeah Yeah Yeah”- both versions are killer.

The video for “Yeah Yeah Yeah V2” is now a youtube.com featured video. (Kudos!)

Some influences he’s listed and/or I’ve noticed are the Postal Service, Radiohead, Muse, Chopin not to mention the Conte lists Danny Elfman as a personal influence. Fantastic.

This specific version of “Yeah Yeah Yeah” is available only on his myspace, not on itunes, but you can buy the rest of his music on itunes or HERE at CDbaby.com.

Carl’s gets Crunch-a-tized!

Cap'n CrunchForget your breakfast smoothie, grab yourself Carl’s Jr’s newest indulgence, Cap’n Crunch Shakes & Malts.

It’s breakfast cereal in a blender and for the first few sips, it’s the most heavenly drink an eight-year old (or eight-year old at heart) could ever fathom. Unfortunately, there is a reason why milk is only poured into the bowl immediately before consumption.

Good news first: After ordering the malt and enjoying french fries on the side, I am a big fan of breakfast cereal milkshakes. The sweet cereal went quite nicely with the malt. I’m pretty sure the concoction is just a vanilla malt/shake with Captain Crunch blended in. Simple, yet delicious.

Bad news: You have to drink it quickly. Within 10 minutes the cereal in the malt had gone soggy. I guess the Cap’n isn’t so successful at battling off the evil “soggies” when up against a thicker dairy. The malt became just plain vanilla, occasionally sucking up a mushy chunk. It was too gross to finish.

Overall, I really love this idea of breakfast cereal milkshakes (if you can drink them fast). The fact that you can get Cap’n Crunch, the world’s most tasty breakfast cereal, at a drive through window is downright genius. It’s really yummy and I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Muxtape.com = Music for Days

Photobucket

My refresh button is about to fall off because of Muxtape.com.

If you’re not familiar with the site it lets you upload 12 songs onto your profile for an online playlist. You can listen to different users’ playlists and they can listen to yours. Just refresh the site for a new set of mixes.

I’m going on overload discovering so much amazing music. I do fine on my own usually, but THE REMIXES…I’ve had the pleasure of finding remixes for some of my favorite bands and COVERS!

I’ve always been a sucker for remixes and cover songs.

There’s just something very interesting when an artist puts their spin on another artist’s work. Sometimes it’s sacrilege, but most of the time for me it refreshes my memory when it comes to listening to old favorites.

Another great Muxtape feature, according to its blog, is it’s iphone compatable. You can travel with unlimited playlists because you can connect to the site and listen to it on your iphone.

Start your own Muxtape HERE. The sign up is lightening fast and simple.

Below is my (Cy) and Cypress’ Muxtape URL. Leave your URL in the comments and we’ll check yours out. KN loves music!

AHH!

White Gold announced on Facebook that they have a new WEBSITE!

For those who aren’t in the loop White Gold is Spinal Tap + Milk and, as far as I’m concerned, that equation equals AWESOME!

I love this Got Milk campaign.

This is the bulletin they posted:

Our new official site WhiteGoldIsWhiteGold.com is finally ready! It’s like if you fed our Facebook page a lot of milk and let it hibernate for the winter. Come springtime, it would emerge a beefy, glorious cyber gorilla, which is exactly what WhiteGoldIsWhiteGold.com is. It’s got to be like the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Cool. Like COLD. Like frostbite. Seriously. Ouch.

Check it: www.WhiteGoldIsWhiteGold.com

Seriously, check the website out- it’s killer.

New Amsterdam
Fox :: Mon 9 pm

Another excuse for a crime drama, but with an intriguing uniqueness.

New Amsterdam follows the story of an immortal cop living in New York. After 400 years and 609 women, he’s still waiting for the one who will make him mortal. Sure, it sounds cheesy. ‘True love makes him mortal, but more alive than ever.’ (And the show uses that line or something like it almost every episode.) Aside from the writing being a bit weak, the show is pretty decent.

Because our main character has lived through four centuries, he’s constantly referencing classic literature, music, historic events, and intriguing details about every era. This makes the show. It’s like watching Pride & Prejudice, Pocahontas, Brave Heart, Chicago, Grease, and Law & Order at the same time. Sure, it sounds complex, but it makes for a really great crime drama.

The Season Finale is on Next Monday, April 14th. It’s definitely worth tuning in.

The kn team gives it 3/5.

Spoiler: Our hero has just found out that the woman he thought was going to make him mortal, isn’t the one, yet he’s already fallen for her (and it’s mutual). With many wives having come and gone through his life already, should he just live and love or push this love aside to continue his seach for the one? How is he supposed to tell the one he’s with? (Meanwhile, each episode invovles a homicide case.)

Free Aquabats Show

April 12th is USC Springfest.

The Aquabats are playing the Springfest and you can see them for free.

Here’s a bulletin they’ve announced:

Come on down collegites and collegettes! We’ll be playing a FREE set over at the USC Springfest on April 12th!

We go on at 4PM so mark your calenders and synchronize your swimming, we’ll be playing on the hour SHARP like razorwire!

Best of all, the SHOW IS FREE! So spend all the money you can on merchandise…if we sell merchandise…if we have merchandise…just throw money on stage!

How exciting! I love free shows and an Aquabats’ show is always a good time.

The last time I saw them was at the House of Blues in San Diego and they threw kid into the crowd, which lovingly and desperately caught him of course. The parents didn’t even make a big deal about it, they just kept dancing when “Pool Party” played.

The kid got to play the drums, dance and the lead put him on his shoulders…he won’t realize how major that is til he’s older. Lucky lil’ cannon ball.

Adding A Little More Crisis To Our Lives

Photobucket

It’s been 10 years since the release of Final Fantasy VII, arguably the BEST FF in this ongoing franchise, and to celebrate this milestone, Square Enix has released a PSP RPG prequel titled Crisis Core. At first I was a little skeptical. The last Final Fantasy VII game I picked up to play, Dirge of Cerberus, was definitely disappointing to say the least and I wish I asked for a refund.

Crisis Core on the other hand provides fun game play, a lot more interaction and lots of fan service. It fills in all the blanks that the original FF VII left behind. Plus, it’s really fun to see what the original characters were during before the events of Final Fantasy VII.

It’s a visually stunning game with smooth game play and the cut scenes carry on the tradition of being mind blowing-ly awesome! The load time between missions can be slow, but that’s usually the case with PSP games. As I mentioned before, it’s a lot more interactive. It ditches the old select action then wait, for press buttons like mad. You control the sword swinging and it’s up to you to block or dodge.

Leveling up can get a little annoying. The game employs a type of “slot machine” system (DMW: Digital Mind Wave) There are 3 reels and each reel rotates independently. When you line up the three reels of the same character and value, a power-up or a “Power Surge!” will be rewarded to Zack. (Trust me, it’s hard getting 777 to level up) This includes, limit breaks, summons, leveling up Zack and leveling up materia.

If you are a Final Fantasy VII fan, the game doesn’t disappoint. CC brings back everything you love and makes you want to replay the old game. (My sister doesn’t approve of that idea because it means cutting into TV time.) If you aren’t a FF fan, I recommend that you pick up this game because, once again, it doesn’t disappoint. There is something for everyone whether you’re an action fanatic, a love story sucker or a giggly J-Pop Gackt fan. (The character Genesis is visually based off the signer J-Pop Gackt.)

I’m currently playing it through and I’m loving every minute! I’m taking my time with this one because let’s face it, I can’t hold on to the rumor of A PS3 remake, although I pray every night for one!

**As a side note, Square-Enix released several other items to celebrate the 10 year mark including a limited, special edition potion/book set and 77,777 limited edition Crisis Core PSPs only released in Japan. That’s right, drool over the pictures because these items are incredibly hard to find in the US!
